Microsuction is a modern, safe, and efficient method of earwax removal. It involves using a medical suction device to gently remove earwax from the ear canal.
When performed by trained and accredited Hearcare Professionals, microsuction is generally considered a safe and effective way to remove earwax. However, like any medical procedure, it carries some risk of complications.
Most patients find microsuction to be a comfortable procedure. You may feel a slight pulling sensation and hear some noise due to the suction, but it is usually pain-free.
A typical microsuction session lasts about 15-30 minutes, depending on the amount and type of earwax to be removed.
Some clinics recommend using ear drops to soften the wax a few days before the procedure, but it’s not always necessary. Consult with us for personalised advice.
Possible side effects can include minor irritation, temporary hearing loss, and tinnitus. Serious complications are rare but can include ear infections or perforation.
We charge £65 for one or both ears. We also charge an extra £10, in case you request the service to be done from the comfort of your home.
Generally, yes. Most people can return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure. However, it’s best to avoid swimming or inserting anything into your ears for a few days.
The frequency of microsuction treatments varies from person to person. Some may need it only once every few years, while others might require more frequent visits.
Microsuction may not be suitable for individuals with certain ear conditions, a history of ear surgery, or those who are currently experiencing ear infections. Always consult with a healthcare provider for an appropriate treatment plan.
